OVU is a browser-based 3D drawing studio where every stroke is real 3D geometry.
What it does: Strokes are cast onto a plane facing the camera, snap to the world axis most facing you, and lock to nearby strokes so lines join. There are 50+ brushes, you can use your own PNG as a brush tip, and you can draw directly on imported .glb, .gltf or .obj models.
Output: Time-lapse playback, export to .glb, GIF and video, and a native binary .ovu format with per-chunk CRC32 checks.
Stack: three.js r169, React Three Fiber, drei, Zustand, TypeScript and Vite, with an Electron desktop build for Windows and macOS.
Open questions: OP asks whether anyone has merged thousands of stroke meshes while keeping per-object picking, and how to keep bloom and multi-pass post-processing cheap on integrated GPUs.
